What users can do The government body has advised users to apply the latest security patch available for their Mac devices. macOS versions that are affected CERT-In has issued the warning for Mac devices running macOS ventura versions prior to 13.3, macOS Big Sur versions before 11.7.4 and macOS Monterey versions prior to 12.6.2. Why these vulnerabilities exist Describing the vulnerabilities, CERT has mentioned that they exist in “various components of Apple macOS Ventura, macOS Big Sur and macOS Monterey due to memory issues, improper checks, improper input validation, curl issues, improper bound checks, privacy issues, logic issues, race condition errors, using an older version of Vim, improper state management issues”. These vulnerabilities can also spoof VPN servers, read or modify information, gain root privileges and execute arbitrary code or cause denial of service conditions on the target system. What government body has said CERT-In has mentioned that multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple macOS that can allow an attacker to bypass security restrictions of the operating system and disclose sensitive information. The government body has classified the vulnerabilities as ‘high severity’.
